Hi! I’m Ian Windsor, and it is my pleasure to welcome you to jobpagoda.com, which is Pagoda Academy’s and Direct English’s recruitment site. It’s impossible to sum up in a short introduction what Pagoda Academy has meant to me and why it might be the right place for you, so I’ll just tell you a bit about myself and what I do here. Let me first give you a little overview of myself. I’ve been in Korea for 6 years and I’ve been with Pagoda Academy since June 2004. Prior to Pagoda Academy, I started my teaching career with young learners, and although I enjoyed those experiences, I have come to find since teaching at both Direct English and Pagoda Academy that teaching university and adult learners is infinitely more invigorating and rewarding for me. I started teaching at Direct English and then moved on to teaching and recruiting at Pagoda Academy. Later I also took on recruiting for Direct English, which meant I had to reduce my teaching time and concentrate my efforts on recruiting great people to teach at our branches in Seoul and Busan. As Pagoda Academy and Direct English continued to grow and open new branches, we saw the need to hire an additional recruiter. So, I can honestly say that no one was happier with the addition of Phil Reynolds to the Academic Department than I was. Now most of my efforts are directed toward hiring teachers (like you!) for Pagoda branches in Seoul and Busan and making sure that the transition to teaching at Pagoda Academy and living in Korea goes as smoothly as possible. I’m here to provide support from the first email, to arrival and beyond as you embark on this great opportunity.
