1) All applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited 3 to 4-year university.

2) All applicants should be fluent in English and have a solid grasp of grammar.

3) A preference is given to applicants with a bachelor's or master's in English, Education or TESOL.

4) Candidates with experience teaching ESL to adults are preferred.

5) Certifications such as TEFL, CELTA, TESL, etc are a plus.

For interviewees based in Korea, the first step is stopping by our headquarters at Gangnam branch for the first interview with Faculty HR. You will be asked questions about your background, previous teaching experiences and why you would be a good fit at Pagoda. You will also be asked to prepare a short mock lesson to showcase your teaching abilities and your personality as a teacher.
The second step is to stop by the branch for a second interview where you will meet with branch management to discuss specific details such as starting dates, teaching schedule, etc. (There is no second interview for the group classes, namely SLE, at Pagoda Academy. A decision is made by management based off on the first interview)

For applicants based abroad, you will be asked to schedule a Zoom video interview during which the mock lesson will take place and questions regarding your potential employment at Pagoda will be asked. Faculty will also be able to answer some of your questions at that time.
A second online video interview may be scheduled if deemed necessary by branch management.

The two most important are an apostilled copy of your diploma and apostilled criminal background check (Korean Consulate/Embassy notarization for countries not part of the Apostille Treaty/ Hague convention - please check with your local embassy).
You will also be asked to provide an E-2 health statement form, a color-scanned copy of your passport, passport photos and two signed copies of your contract. Any other necessary will be requested by our Visa/Housing manager.

In most cases, you should go to the Immigration Office and apply for an F4 Visa. However, if you are unsure whether or not you qualify for this visa, please check out: www.immigration.go.kr for more info.  Please be aware that, even with an F4 visa, you would need to submit an apostilled diploma and apostilled criminal background check (Korean Consulate/Embassy notarization for countries not part of the Apostille Treaty/ Hague convention - please check with your local embassy) in order for us to register you as a teacher with the Board of Education.

Full-time teachers have 6-8 hours of teaching per day where as part-time teachers have 3~4 hours.
Teachers are paid according to the number of classes taught, so the more you teach, the more you earn!

Yes, we do have part-time positions at Pagoda in the morning and the evenings Monday through Friday and occasional weekend positions.
However, this usually depends on the visa status of the teachers.

Full-time teachers sign a 12-month contract which can be renewed, whereas the length of part-time contracts varies.

For full-time teachers, we are looking for candidates who can fulfill a one-year contract. Many of our teachers renew their contracts and stay with us several years.

For part-time teachers, contract length can vary from two to six months, and those contracts can also be renewed.
