FAQ
Q |
How much money should I bring with me? |
A |
It would be wise to have the equivalent of 500,000 won (U$500) on you and access to an additional 500,000 won. Most ATMs at convenience stores will dispense cash if you have a Cirrus or Plus bank card. This money will help you pay for and set up your apartment and pay for food during that first month and other incidentals. |

*Must leave Korea *Must request pension in the same month you expect to leave with your flight confirmation http://www.nps.or.kr
If you are planning on leaving Korea for awhile you are eligible for a reimbursement. Americans and Canadians get back not only the 4.5% that they contributed, but also the 4.5% that the company contributed. This really adds up! Unfortunately, other teachers from Australia, UK, New Zealand cannot. South Africans are exempt from paying into National Pension. |
